I went to a Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks game recently, my second game ever in my life, and it was great. I went with some old friends that I hadn’t seen in a while and we spent the night drinking a variety of beers, enjoying the inning breaks entertainment and catching up with gossip that we had missed. Oh. I guess we watched the game too.

“Should all acquaints be forgot….” That’s all I know…

Seeing the RedHawks at Newman Outdoor Field has been a hot ticket in town due to the fact that the team recently won it’s 1000th win as a franchise. A pretty impressive feat considering they’ve only been around since 1996.

After ordering our tickets ahead of time, we managed to wrangle front row seats, behind home plate. We got a first glimpse of the action on and off the field as Hawkeye (the team mascot) liked to hangout by our group. Let’s just say that numerous high fives and hugs were exchanged.

“AHH oHhh Sweet Caroline, BA BA BAAAA, good times never seem sooo good, SOO GOOD, SOO GOOD, SOO GOOD! ”

I was highly impressed with the number of things Newman Field had to offer for attendees. There is always a theme or give away to each game and sometimes there is even fireworks. The night I went was Brest Cancer Awareness Night so everyone was advised to wear Pink. This weekend, Aug 2 and 3, there are Fireworks and a Team Card Set Giveaway! First 2,000 fans will receive a 2013 RedHawks Card Set thanks to State Farm Insurance. Plus Games Galore Inflatables for the kids in the playground and Boy Scout Night!

The food and beer vendors were a potpourri of  choices to clinch your taste buds. The food options had everything from ice cream to cheese curds as well as the infamous baseball hotdog, an obvious crowd favorite. I myself, went  for scrumptious breadsticks and sipped on my Angry Orchid Hard Cider. Other favorites in our group were the Leinenkugels stand as well as the cheese curds.

Little did I remember that Newman Field is also a family friendly place to bring the kido’s if your looking for an escape from your own house for a couple hours. Complete with a play ground and fun activities happening every inning break, you wont be board at a RedHawks game.

The girls night out at Newman Outdoor field was a success. I got to catch up with my girlfriends, be on the jumbo torn a good 5 times, and enjoy a hot, summer night of my youth. If you take away anything from this blog take away the fact that we have to enjoy the summer while we can. It wont be 80 degrees for long… 40 below is upon us and you’ll wish you’d gone to a RedHawks game when you had the chance. Be apart of this historic season in the making.

Until next time, I’m Kylie Herland and this has been Random Thoughts complete with song lyrics by me.
