For those of you wishing for a fun, new way to show off your musical talent or if you’re simply looking for a free, family-friendly event to get you outdoors this summer, this is just for you! Music Montage is sponsored by the Fargo Parks District as a means to get local artists to share their joy of music with the community.

The open mic nights take place at the Great Northern Park, just off Broadway in downtown Fargo. The Great Northern Bicycle Company sets the stage for performers of all ages to play up to three songs of their choice, with family-friendly lyrics, of course. Sound equipment is supplied by the Park District. All that you are required to bring is your instrument and your voice.

Music Montage happens from 7:00-8:30pm on the second Thursday of every summer month. Upcoming dates are July 11th and August 8th. On these nights, you can also enjoy Corks and Canvas around downtown Fargo and Bike Night in Moorhead. So have a glass of wine, or two, and stop by the park to hear the talents of our community. If you hope to perform, expect a longer waiting list in July and August as more volunteer performers tend to participate. Get there early to claim your spot

I attended Music Montage in June and had a fantastic time listening to a variety of performers; one who had never sang in front of people and did great! Some sang while others just jammed on their guitar. Great Northern Park is the perfect location for an open mic night in Fargo where people walking along Broadway can enjoy the music as well. Watch Valley News Live cover the stage with last month’s performers.

If you can muster up the courage to face your stage fright, I’d encourage you to grab the mic. If not, bring some friends and cheer on the people who do. You won’t be disappointed!
