Not heading to THE LAKE or THE CITIES over 4th of July? Spending 4th of July in the F-M area and wondering what kind of fun adventures you might be able to stir up? We’re here to help…check out these suggestions!
- 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION AT BONANZAVILLE
This is a new event this year at Bonanzaville and it looks to be a lot of fun! A 5K/10K Vietnam Veterans Run will start at 8:30am. The Pioneer Village will open with several all day activities starting at 10am. Some of these activities include historical cricket games, horse-drawn wagon rides, music, train rides, BBQ picnic, and a historical figure scavenger hunt. Other entertainment includes a parade at 11am, showings of a black & white film at noon and 3pm, and the Jasone Huneke Show (from America’s Got Talent) at 7pm! The exhibit “Up In Arms: The Role of Guns in America” will also open on July 4th in the rotating gallery. This exhibit will feature a variety of guns from a Civil War cannon to a Pepperbox Derringer. Be sure to stick around for the fireworks show which is scheduled to start at approximately 9:30pm!
Regular Bonanzaville admission rates apply for this event: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for children and FREE for those 6 and under. Veterans & military will also receive FREE admission to this event–be sure to bring a military or other ID!
- MSUM 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION
This celebration has been around awhile…41 years to be exact. The MSUM 4th of July celebration is FREE and gets underway at 6:30pm. Concessions will be available at Nemzek Hall & Stadium. Kids can bounce to their heart’s content with inflatable games from 7pm-9:30pm. Another kid-friendly activity starts at 7:30pm–a decorated bike parade. The Lake Aggasiz Concert Band will provide some tunes starting at 7:30pm and The Front Fenders will be on deck to perform at 8:30pm. The big fireworks display will start at about 10:30pm!
- BUFFALO RIVER STATE PARK SWIMMING BEACH
Take a little drive out to Buffalo River State Park (15 miles east of F-M) and catch some sun and sand at their swimming beach. You’ll also find nice hiking trails at the park so you can do some exploring and then go jump in the pond to cool off!
- PICNIC IN THE PARK
The Fargo-Moorhead area has an abundance of parks. Many of them have charcoal grills that you can use…say if you wanted to make your own hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, s’mores or whatever your favorite 4th of July foods are! Maybe you don’t even need a grill, just pack a little lunch and enjoy the (hopefully) beautiful weather in the park. Check out the parks in Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo to find a park that suits your needs!
- FARGO-MOORHEAD REDHAWKS BASEBALL GAME
It doesn’t get too much more American than baseball! The F-M RedHawks are back at home this Saturday & Sunday (July 6 & 7). If you’ve never attended a RedHawks baseball game, this would be a great opportunity! Plus, if you didn’t get your fill on July 4th, there will be fireworks after the game on Saturday!
Happy 4th of July to all! Wherever you spend it, have fun…and wear sunscreen.
